Carol Flate Gerken '67
Carol Flate Gerken was appointed Executive Director of CHMM Community Caregivers (CC) in May 2008. Celebrating 10 years in 2008, CC is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit volunteer organization serving the needs of neighbors in Center Harbor, Meredith and Moultonborough. Carol most recently served as the Director of the Inter - Lakes Senior Center in Meredith. She is a principal of Wingate Enterprises Consulting in Meredith, NH with her husband, Richard, a former corporation lawyer. For ten years, she was employee by the DuPage Children’s Museum in Wheaton and Naperville, Illinois, a 501(c)(3) tax exempt entity with responsibilities as founder/manager/buyer of the Museum store; facilitator and trainer in customer services for staff and volunteers; and as special events planner and fundraiser. A graduate of Plymouth State University, Carol has worked as a substitute teacher in Glen Ellyn, IL after teaching elementary grades in both Stamford and West Hartford, Connecticut. In 1996, she was elected to a four-year term as a Trustee of the Glen Ellyn Library, where she was involved in overseeing the construction of a new library facility and sale of the former site. Carol has been actively involved in community affairs over the years, having served as PTA President at both the Elementary and Jr. High School levels in addition to serving on various community boards in Illinois. In 2001, Carol was named to the President’s Council at Plymouth State University. As a member of the Community Center Search Committee in Meredith, both she and Richard were active in the private fundraising phase of that campaign. Carol is a graduate of the Leadership Lakes Region and is active in her community as a member of ALTRUSA, the Greater Meredith Program and most recently serving as the co-chair of the Page Pond and Forest Leadership Committee dedicated to raising private funds for conservation.
