Business Scholarships

 Jane E. Babin Scholarship
The purpose of the Jane E. Babin Scholarship Fund is to support scholarships for students majoring in business and/or economics who have completed at least 60 credit hours and can demonstrate their knowledge and experience gained in the field of business and/or economics.  Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA to apply for the scholarship. Applicants must submit a 500 word essay on a topic that will be chosen annually by the awards and functions committee of the business department.  Applicants may use their portfolios in the development of their essay.  The committee will narrow the field to a group of essays to be presented by the student authors at a program open to faculty and students of the business department.  Students will be judged on the quality of their essay and their presentation.

Citizens Bank Scholarship Fund*
This endowment funds scholarships for business majors who are residents of Merrimack County, based on financial need and academic standing. If there are no qualified applicants of said county in any given year, the awards may be made to other residents of the State of New Hampshire. Recipients are chosen by a committee. No application process is required.

John V. Defortis '77 Scholarship Fund
This endowment honors John V. DeFortis '77 and, in his memory, provides scholarships to outstanding students who are majoring in Business with an accounting concentration. The recipient must have completed his/her sophomore year of study, attaining a minimum grade point average of 3.0. Recipients are chosen by a committee. No application process is required.

Scott Descoteaux Scholarship Fund*
This endowment honors Scott Descoteaux and, in his memory, funds scholarships. Awards are made to student(s) majoring in Business. The recipient shall have graduated from Nashua Senior High School and, whenever applicable, preference shall be given to a student who is the child of a single parent. The scholarship is based on merit, with consideration given to financial need, and is $500 for each recipient. Recipients are chosen by a committee. No application process is required.

Myrtle L. Grover Endowment Fund
This endowment funds scholarships for worthy undergraduate students majoring in accounting or management. Recipients are chosen by a committee. No application process is required.

John V. Miller Jr. Endowment Fund
This endowment funds scholarship honors the memory of the late Professor John V. Miller, Jr., by helping to defray direct expenses incurred by students and faculty to operate the Small Business Institute (SBI). John Miller was a beloved teacher and esteemed colleague who founded the SBI at PSU in 1978 and for fifteen years directed its student-consultants to perform excellent work in the service of New Hampshire businesses.

Hazel Balch Moore '26 Scholarship Fund*
This endowment funds scholarships for Business majors who have attained at least second semester sophomore standing. Selection is based on merit and financial need as determined by the selection committee and the Office of Financial Aid. Recipients are chosen by a committee. No application process is required.

Merilee Phillips Accounting Scholarship Fund
This endowed fund supports scholarships for accounting majors, in good academic standing, with a preference for New Hampshire residents.  Recipients shall be selected by the accounting department.  Awards will be announced at the spring Business Convocation.

Barry M. Ross ' 73 Scholarship Fund*
The purpose of this endowed fund is to provide scholarships to students in their third semester who are majoring in business. The Fund is established to assist students who are not residents of New Hampshire, and who live in a single-parent home. Selection will be made by a committee of the Business Department and a representative of the PSUAA Board. Awards will be based on merit and financial need as determined by the selection committee and the Office of Financial Aid.

Regina E. Thornton Memorial Scholarship *
This endowment honors Regina E. Thornton and, in her memory, funds an annual scholarship given to one deserving Business major. The award recipient is chosen by the Business Department faculty on the basis of the following criteria: a needy student from the Manchester, N. H. area. Recipients are chosen by a committee. No application process is required.

* Students who would like to be considered for scholarships that identify financial need as a criteria will need to complete the Federal Financial Aid Application before the March 1 deadline. Academic and Non-Academic Departments offering scholarships collaborate with the Financial Aid Office, therefore, it is imperative that students comply with PSU policy.
