Health and Human Performance Scholarships

Paul E. Arold Memorial Scholarship Fund *
This endowment honors Paul E. Arold and, in his memory, funds scholarships. Awards are made to outstanding students majoring in Physical Education. The scholarship is based on merit and New Hampshire residency, with consideration given to financial need. Recipients are chosen by a committee. No application process is required.

Julie N. Bernier Annual Scholarship
This annual scholarship, previously named the PSU Athletic Training Scholarship, is an annual award given to a deserving athletic training major. 

Donna L. Ford Memorial Scholarship Fund *
This endowment honors Donna L. Ford and, in her memory, funds scholarships. The scholarship award, based on financial need, will be determined by the Health and Human Performance's (HHP) Scholarship Committee. The award will be made to a deserving instate full-time upper-class student who has been actively involved in HHP functions and is a serious student with average or above average grades within the HHP major. The award will be made each spring and credited to the student's account the following year. Recipients are chosen by a committee. No application process is required.

Van A. Hartman/Vernon Kelly Scholarship
This endowment funds a scholarship for a physical education major, enrolled in a four-year degree program, who exemplifies the finest in scholarship and citizenship. Awards are made in multiples of $100. Recipients are chosen by a committee. No application process is required.

Plymouth State University HHP Alumni Scholarship
The purpose of this endowed fund is to provide a scholarship to one incoming student who intends to major in Athletic Training, Health Education, Adventure Education, or Physical Education.  Eligibility will be restricted to incoming students who are identified as having strong high school scholarship.  The following criteria will be used to assess scholarship candidates: admission as a full-time matriculated student to Plymouth State; intent to major in Athletic Training, Health Education, Adventure Education or Physical Education; proven leadership qualities; interest in serving and providing community service; along with involvement in extra curricular activities.  The HHP Scholarship committee will assess candidates on the above criteria along with three letters of recommendation and a statement of the applicant’s goals.  Students will be invited to apply to the Department of Health and Human Performance Alumni Merit Scholarship.

Beatrice Hodgdon Award Fund *
This endowment provides funds to recognize a female student who has completed or is completing her junior year of study and who has made a significant contribution to any area of physical education. The scholarship is based on service to the University, scholarship and need. Recipients are chosen by a committee. No application process is required.

Jason Tuscano Annual Scholarship
The Jason Tuscano Annual Scholarship is awarded to a member of the snowboard club who exemplifies good sportsmanship, and is a model for personal conduct both on the slopes and on the campus, with a preference for a snowboarder at a competitive level. The recipient must be in good academic standing, and committed to and excel in competition.  Recipients are chosen by a committee.  No application process is required


* Students who would like to be considered for scholarships that identify financial need as a criteria will need to complete the Federal Financial Aid Application before the March 1 deadline. Academic and Non-Academic Departments offering scholarships collaborate with the Financial Aid Office, therefore, it is imperative that students comply with PSU policy.
