What is the E4 Coalition?

In early 2005, a network of institutions, communities, organizations and landowners began to form a coalition. The mission of this coalition was to find creative solutions to expand economic opportunity, implement new technologies for forest-based energy, promote local self-sufficiency and sustainability, find new uses for forest products, cultivate local food production, preserve valued forest landscapes, and enhance the quality of life in communities that are connected to our forest resources. This group, who ultimately decided to call itself the E4 Coalition (Economy, Ecology, Energy, and Entrepreneurship), continues to grow and develop creative ways to promote more sustainable forest-based economy in the Northeast.
The Center for Rural Partnerships at Plymouth State University is seeking a positive, outgoing individual for the position of E4 Intern. The successful candidate must be a strong writer who has an interest in sustainable development. Duties of this position will include research, phone interviews and writing articles for the E4 Coalition webpage.

Internship – Open to All Students – NH Land Use and Transportation History Intern

The purpose of this project is to tell the history of the Lakes Region focusing on the economic history, land use and transportation history. It will showcase Alton’s historical collection and tell the nearly forgotten railroad history and its impact on the landscape and economy. Research will build upon work of another intern from last spring.

The Coos Symposium is a group of organizations that meet periodically to share information, form collaborative partnerships, and support projects that benefit the North Country.

The Center for Rural Partnerships seeks a positive, outgoing individual for the position of Coos Symposium intern. The successful candidate must be a strong writer, articulate, comfortable with public speaking, and possesses leadership potential. In addition, the candidate must have direct knowledge of Coos County. Duties will include preparing for two to three quarterly meetings.

Physical Plant is looking for students to work in the following positions:

Building Service Worker- You will perform a variety of tasks related to the general upkeep and cleaning of University held properties. This is a position that works in the background of the larger full-time BSW staff and assists them in their daily operations.

Grounds Worker: Main duty will be to maintain/clean all fleet vehicles. Depending on work load, could also assist with a variety of tasks related to the general upkeep of University held properties. This is a position that works in the background of the larger full-time Grounds staff and assists them in their daily operations.

The Plymouth State University Police Dept. currently has two vacancies for the hourly/work-study position of Student Campus Safety Officer.

As a student, being a SCSO provides a unique opportunity to achieve three important goals:

   1. To make a meaningful, substantive contribution to the day-to-day quality of life on campus and to enhance the sense of security and well-being for your fellow students by engaging in proactive crime prevention activities;
   2. To improve your interpersonal and communications skills sets; and
   3. To enhance your resume so as to attract the attention of law enforcement recruiters after graduation

We look for students to join our program who have a sincere interest in those goals. What we do not look for or want in our program is a student who (a) is into an ego/power trip who enjoys lording authority over others, or (b) wants to use his/her position on campus as a guy/chick magnet for persona/social reasons. We want young people who would like to make a difference and be part of a team whose only reason for existing is to keep this campus safe. Starting pay rate for Student Officers for fall ’08 will be $7.25/hr. Uniforms are provided. You supply your own footwear.

The hiring process for the SCSO position includes a panel interview, polygraph exam, and background investigation.

Holderness After School Care and Enrichment
Positions: 1-2
Hours per week: approximately 15
Operating Hours: Monday – Friday, 2:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Holderness ACE provides school day care, after kindergarten care and after school care for grades K-8. The program focuses on the needs of the whole child: Physical, emotional, social, familial and cognitive. Activities and enrichment programs are designed to enhance what children are already learning in school as well as provide new ideas and activities in order to create life-long lasting experiences.
Responsibilities: Assist teacher with planning, delivery and evaluation of lessons and activities and in general, help make ACE a safe, enjoyable and enriching experience for children. Criminal Background Check required.

A+ Program (Russell School, Rumney)
Positions: 4
Hours per week: approximately 15
Operating Hours: Monday – Friday, 2:45 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. (Middle School Program)
The A+ Program provides quality after school homework help and enrichment activities in a safe, caring and enriching environment for students in grades K-8.
Responsibilities: Assist A+ staff providing homework help, leading games & activities and positive role modeling/mentoring to youth. Criminal Background Check, fingerprinting required. Attend trainings.
