About Online Learning at PSU

Student onlineThrough The Frost School of Continuing and Professional Studies, Plymouth State University offers a number of hybrid and online courses designed to meet the needs of your busy lifestyle. Whether you are a day student taking summer classes from home or a working professional taking classes in the Frost School, online courses can make meeting your educational goals more convenient than ever.

At Plymouth, we take pride in our high student-faculty interaction and sense of community. Our online courses continue this proud tradition. All online classes are equivalent to the courses you would take in a classroom. So, while you cannot currently earn your degree online, all of the online courses you take may be applied to a degree should you decide to matriculate.

Online learning is indeed a flexible learning solution with many advantages – but not one suited to all learners. The convenience and flexibility of online learning allow you to “attend” class any time, anywhere you have access to the Internet. But that doesn’t mean online courses are easier than face-to-face classes. In fact, they demand an even higher level of self-discipline and a well-developed ability to work independently.

Mission

The online offerings at PSU assists in supporting the institution’s educational philosophy of learner-centered teaching, experiential learning and academic excellence. Online and blended courses at PSU will provide increased access for our matriculated students as well as for a broad audience of learners reaching from our own community to the state, region and beyond.

Goals

  1. To deliver a wide range of online courses that are as rigorous and which meet the same objectives and academic standards as courses delivered on-campus.
  2. To create a community of online learners by providing superior service and support.
  3. To provide excellent training and support to faculty involved in online learning so that they might efficiently and effectively use technology to provide quality instruction.
  4. To reach, via the use of technology, a new audience of learners who might otherwise not have the opportunity to partake in the educational experience at PSU.
