IM Sports Scorekeeper

Position Title: Intramural Sports Scorekeeper

Responsible to: Assistant Director for Recreation Programs, Undergrad Intern for Intramural Sports and Intramural Sports Supervisors

Qualifications: Candidates should have the ability and willingness to learn the rules of ALL PSU intramural sports and display positive qualities for customer service, professionalism, and (but not limited to) communications skills. Being a team-player is a must. Previous experience in officiating is helpful but not required – we provide training for all officiated sports.

Duties Include:

  • Communicate with fellow scorekeepers, officials, and Supervisors who work before, during, and after your game or shift.
  • Conduct pre-game and post-game administration with captains and their teams.
  • Be sure that all participants are legal PSU students, faculty, or staff and have complied with all Intramural Sports registration policies and procedures.
  • Double-check the condition of the facility (game fields, courts, etc.). Report any potential hazards or problems to the IM Supervisor on site immediately.
  • Anticipate potential problems and seek to prevent or minimize them by assisting the IM Officials through effective communication with each other and with the teams.
  • Maintain safety and impartiality in all competitions.
  • Enforce all appropriate game and Intramural Sports rules at all times.
  • Report any misuse of facilities and equipment and/or disciplinary problems from participants and spectators to the IM Supervisor on site immediately.
  • Assist in the report of both Accident Reports and Incident Reports with the IM Supervisor.
  • Learn the sport-specific rules and regulations of the games offered by the Recreation Programs.
  • Maintain the statistics, score, time, and other such features during game competitions
  • Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for the IM Sports Staff.
  • Maintain the possession and condition of the equipment issued to you by the Recreation Programs (e.g. official's shirt, hat, whistle, etc.)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Recreation Programs and/or HUB Management.
