Individual residence hall rooms vary in size and character depending on the building, however the basic furnishing are the same. All rooms are furnished with 80" beds (this is important to know when purchasing sheets!), bureaus, desks, chairs, wardrobes or closets and a ceiling light. Within some restrictions you are encouraged to add personal touches to your room. We allow students to build lofts but only after signing a contract with the Residence Director. And you will need to bring your own pillows, linens, blankets, towels and personal items.
Students are allowed to have microwaves, small refrigerators (up to 5 cu ft), and hot air popcorn poppers. For safety reasons, open coiled appliances (such as hot plates, toasters, toaster ovens and heating coils) candles and halogen lamps are prohibited.
It is helpful to purchase a dry erase board for messages.
Room assignments for new students are made during the summer. Assignment information is available online. It is highly recommended that prospective roommates talk to each other about what they are bringing as duplicates of everything are unnecessary.
