Tower Fund FAQ
- Doesn't PSU receive funding from the state?
- Plymouth State University receives less than 14 percent of its total budget from state appropriations, with student tuition making up a large part of the University's operating budget, less than any other state (the national average is around 32 percent). Gifts to the PSU Tower Fund from alumni and friends help keep tuition affordable while providing programs and services that enrich the academic experience for all PSU students.
- What is the difference between the Tower Fund and a capital campaign?
- Annual gifts made to the Tower Fund support the greatest and most immediate needs of the University, year after year. Capital campaign gifts are usually one-time gifts that help us meet our long-term needs, typically new building projects and endowed scholarships and professorships.
- Can my Tower Fund gift support a specific department or sport?
- Our main goal is to raise unrestricted funds to pay for such top priorities as scholarships and academic programs. So we ask that, no matter what your affiliation to Plymouth State University, you consider making an unrestricted gift this year. On the other hand, you may have a special place in your heart for one or more programs at PSU. If so, we are delighted to apply one hundred percent of your donation to the program of your choice.
- How do I make a gift in honor of someone special to me?
- There are many donors who give honorary and memorial gifts to PSU. To make your gift in honor or in memory of someone, simply include a note with your contribution specifying your wishes.
- What constitutes a fiscal year?
- Plymouth State University's fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30.
- May I make a larger gift by making multiple payments?
- Yes. All gifts received between July 1 and June 30 count toward your total for the fiscal year.
- If I make a gift will my name be published as a donor?
- Yes, unless you instruct us otherwise. We list the names of our donors on the Donor Honor Roll which that appears in the online annual report. This is our way to recognize not only the generosity of all our donors, but also their support of PSU and continued interest in higher education. A donor recognition list often influences others to make a gift and demonstrates to current students the importance of supporting their future alma mater.
- Do gifts from me and my spouse and corporate matching gifts apply to my giving total?
- Yes. All gifts, including joint spousal gifts and corporate matching gifts, count toward your giving total for the fiscal year. For more information on matching gift search our matching gift look up service or contact your Human Resources Office.
