The 2003 James J. Hogan Memorial Award for support of athletics was presented to Professor Bonnie Epstein ’72 on November 25.
At the presentation, head women’s basketball coach Lauren Lavigne ’94 described Epstein as “one of the most dedicated and loyal supporters of Plymouth State athletics … She is a Plymouth State alumna, a faculty member in the English department, and has been a long-standing member of the Plymouth State Athletic Council. She has given countless hours in support of all her students, both inside and outside the classroom. She can be seen supporting her students year-round at athletics contests, often with her husband, Steve, and her daughter, Hannah, at her side.”
The James J. Hogan Memorial Award is presented annually to an individual who has made significant and lasting contributions to Plymouth State athletics. It is given in memory of the late Dr. James J. Hogan, a former Plymouth State professor and coach, and a major proponent of Panther Athletics, dating back nearly half a century.
