Looking for a way to get involved with the PSU Alumni Association? There are many ways alumni can contribute. Here are just a few. Remember, only you can make the PSUAA successful!
Class Agents Class agents are crucial to the PSUAA. Their close contact with classmates provides a direct link between PSU and alumni. Class agents gather news about alumni, plan reunions, keep classmates in touch with one another and assist with fundraising projects for Plymouth State. It’s a terrific way to keep in touch with old friends, make new friends and help Plymouth become the best it can be.
Reunion Committee Did you know that planning for a class reunion begins at least one full year before the reunion actually takes place? A lot goes into a successful reunion: planning the event, calling classmates to ensure good attendance and making sure all the little details are in place. Reunions are most successful when members of the class are actively involved in all stages of planning.
Student-Alumni Connections One of the best ways for you to volunteer is to help connect students and alumni. Throughout the year, PSUAA sponsors activities to bring alumni and current students together: New Student Orientation activities, programs for seniors, career mentoring opportunities and alumni discussion panels are just a few examples. Keep checking the PSU alumni Web site for more information. Remember, connecting with students now will help them understand the importance of their involvement as alumni later.
PSUAA Committees Whether it’s Homecoming, Alumni Day, Alumni Service Awards, the PSUAA Scholarship selection or more, the PSUAA is always on the lookout for volunteers to serve on committees. With a variety of committees to choose from, there is sure to be one that could use your expertise! Check the PSU alumni Web site for a full list of committees, or call the alumni office for a volunteer packet.
Alumni Admission Efforts Knowing that alumni can be key to the admission process, the PSUAA and the admission office formed the Plymouth Alumni Volunteer Effort (PAVE) program. Volunteers contact admitted students from their area and welcome them to the Plymouth family. The PAVE program is always looking for more alumni volunteers who are willing to be in touch with new members of the PSU community.
The Plymouth State University Alumni Association needs you to build on its success. To volunteer or to find out more about volunteer options, contact any of the PSUAA board members or the alumni office.
