Museum of the White Mountains. PSU Professor of History Marcia Schmidt Blaine is now interim director of the MWM, following founding director Catherine Amidon’s stepping down from the position in late 2015. Blaine is well versed with the MWM’s history and goals; she has curated three exhibitions since its opening in 2013. Her research focuses on the development of American identity in the eighteenth century and Americans’ historical relationship with the White Mountains.
The new year has brought exciting changes at theThe museum’s next exhibit, Taking the Lead: Women and the White Mountains, which Blaine co-curated with Karl Drerup Gallery Director Cynthia Robinson, will open in March.
Blaine’s goal is to work closely with various academic disciplines and on- and off-campus partners to create a hub for innovative projects and applied learning opportunities for students.
