Four outstanding student-athletes from the 1980s and 1990s, and two individuals who have made their marks as coaches and administrators comprise the 20th class of the Plymouth State University Athletic Hall of Fame. They were enshrined at the annual Hall of Fame Banquet on Sunday, October 17, 2004. This year’s group brought the Hall membership to 98 individuals and six teams.
The new inductees are Joe Amorosino ’62, a former three-sport letterman who has been a successful high school and college coach and professional basketball scout; Adam DeChristopher ’99, a First Team All-America basketball star who is PSU’s second all-time leading scorer; Elaine Flanagan Swett ’85, an All-American softball player who led the Panthers to an ECAC championship; Stacey Freda ’95, an All-America soccer star who helped her team to four straight NCAA berths; Hank LaBranche ’65, a former student-athlete at Plymouth Teachers College who has enjoyed a noted career as a high school coach and administrator in New Hampshire; and Norm Sherwood ’89, a former four-year starter and standout for both the Plymouth State men’s soccer and baseball teams.
“We were delighted with the induction of the six new members of our Hall of Fame,” said Committee Chairman Peter Cofran. “We have many deserving candidates, so to rise above the rest and earn induction is an extremely high honor.”
