Joe Long, Director of Alumni Relations
Technology is changing everything. With the dawning of each new day, a tool for better and faster communication becomes available. My cell phone now serves as my camera, as well as getting my e-mail and playing my favorite music. My new car comes equipped with a GPS device and satellite monitoring in case I get into an accident and can’t call for help. I can use my laptop computer while I wait to have my car fixed by accessing an Internet “hot spot” provided by my local car dealer. We no longer are amazed that people can page us on the subway or send photos to our computer. It’s all part of daily life.
The Alumni Association of Plymouth State University has jumped on the technology superhighway and launched the myPlymouth online community (http://my.plymouth.edu). Here alumni can do some amazing things. By just signing on, you have access to a pool of services-and you’re only a few clicks away from thousands of other Plymouth alumni. Once inside myPlymouth you can post photos from your last reunion, e-mail all of your classmates or former team members, share files, post messages, have a group calendar and more. Not interested in the group thing? Then simply use myPlymouth to update your contact information, or search for that person who lived down the hall freshman year. This is the one place you can find out everything about Plymouth. Alumni, campus, community and athletics news are just a click away. If that is not enough, how about having your own personal permanent e-mail account? As a Plymouth alum, you have a free Plymouth alumni e-mail account that lasts as long as you do! That’s right-it lasts as long as you do!
I encourage you to take a few moments and check out my.plymouth.edu. You won’t be sorry.
