Hubbard Brook: Big insights from a small place | Mountain Voices

Groffman’s talk will provide an overview of Hubbard Brook research, with a focus on why the site is well known and how the watershed approach has been fundamental in Environmental Science. 

Peter M. Groffman (he/him/his) is a Professor at the City University of New York Advanced Science Research Center and the Earth and Environmental Sciences Program at the Graduate Center, and Brooklyn College Department of Earth and Environmental SciencesHe is also a Senior Research Fellow at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies. His research focuses on climate effects on ecosystem biogeochemical processes related to carbon and nitrogen cycles. Much of his research is based at the Hubbard Brook Long Term Ecological Research site in New Hampshire, where he has worked since 1992. Groffman was a Convening Lead Author for the 2013 U.S. National Climate Assessment Chapter on Ecosystems, Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services, a lead author for the Second (Wetlands) and Third (North America) Assessment Reports of the Intergovernmental Program on Climate Change (IPCC), and is on the Reuters Hot Listof the world’s top 1,000 climate scientists.
