Field trip to Bartlett Experimental Forest

August 20, 2018 @ 5:00 am - 8:00 am

Spend a morning learning about the silviculture and wildlife habitat research that has been going on for over 80 years on the Bartlett Experimental Forest. This forest was formerly established in 1932 as a field laboratory to conduct research on growing northern hardwoods. Longtime U.S. Forest Service researchers Bill Leak, Mariko Yamasaki, and Chris Costello will lead an informative tour and discussion on how to manage forests for timber while also benefiting a wide variety of wildlife species. This driving tour will include stops at stands that have been managed with even and uneven-aged management systems.

Meet in front of the BEF lab and conference room building, located at the US Forest Service center on Pine Street in Bartlett, NH. The group will leave just after 9am. Bring your own car. Carpooling is encouraged! RSVP required (max 35 participants).
