Screening of David Huntley’s Documentary: The People’s Forest

June 29, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

Free

Join us for a special viewing of “The People’s Forest: The Story of the White Mountain National Forest.” This 48-minute documentary by filmmaker David Huntley tells “…one of the greatest environmental comeback stories in American history.” In the late 1800s, the White Mountains suffered from extensive logging, and between 1880 and 1910, hundreds of thousands of acres were destroyed by forest fires, followed by erosion and flooding. The destruction of New Hampshire’s forests led to a grassroots conservation movement led by citizens, politicians, and business and civic groups who believed that conservation could benefit both the environment and the economy.
