Tramping with the Appies. Talk by AMC Archivist Becky Fullerton

November 9, 2018 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Free

“Camp Party at the Perch, Mt Adams, NH, 1893. Courtesy of the Appalachian Mountain Club Library & Archives.”

Take a trip in pictures to experience how outdoor recreationists explored the White Mountains before the age of highways, ultralight gear and Gortex. Which train would you board to reach the hills? What gear and food would you carry? What was it like to take over a small country hotel with a boisterous group of Appalachian Mountain Club hikers in the middle of winter? Learn all of this and more in an engaging showcase of 19th and early 20th century travel.

Becky Fullerton is the Archivist for the Appalachian Mountain Club, based out of the AMC Highland Center in Crawford Notch. Additionally she is an oil and watercolor painter, train runner and flatwater kayaker.

This presentation is co-sponsored by the Appalachian Mountain Club. Free and open to all.
