Winter is Over! Seven Ways to Enjoy Spring

With the days getting warmer and most of the snow gone, it’s time to get outside and enjoy spring! Here are some events and activities for you and your friends to take advantage of while we have this amazing weather.

Panther Kickback

Stop by after class and hangout at Mary Lyon lawn on Thursday, April 25, from 4–7 p.m. for lawn games, free giveaways, free ice cream, and live music! This event is also in conjunction with Brewfest 2019, so attendees of age can enjoy beer tastings! For updates on this event follow Instagram @panther_kickback.

Spring Fling

Come out on Friday the 26th for a rap concert and Saturday the 27th for an EDM concert on Mary Lyon lawn at 9:30 p.m. featuring Joyner Lucas, Armani White, STL GLD, Sammy Adams, and DJs of Boston! Spring Fling is always an incredible way to wrap up the year and have a great time with your friends. The best part is that tickets are only $10 before the show and $15 at the door! For more information on this event check out the flyer on the Plymouth State University Facebook page.

Take a Hike!

The White Mountains offer some incredible nature, especially this time of year. To take advantage of it, go on a hike! From exploring back in Langdon Woods to hiking Mount Lafayette, the possibilities are endless for an adventure of any kind. Try downloading the free app “AllTrails” to discover local hiking trails.

Free Equipment Rentals!

Visit the Outdoor Center at ALLWell North to rent kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, backpacks, climbing gear, and all sorts of camping gear for free. Picture it as an outdoor gear shop! The rental period is for seven days and is free for students enrolled in PSU classes. For more information, visit the center or check out this link: https://campus.plymouth.edu/outdoor-center/.

Get your Float On!

The Pemigewasset River is finally warming up and everyone knows what that means: It’s time to float the Pemi! By starting just downstream of Livermore Falls, you and your friends can enjoy a slow and calm float back into town. TIP: try using a blow-up air mattress as a raft (they work super well!) or rent a kayak or canoe from the Outdoor Center.

Mary Lyon Lawn

Got a couple of minutes in between class? Head out to the lawn area in the middle of campus to chill out at picnic tables or even soak up the sun in the grass. You can even hang up a hammock in the trees in front of the HUB! On a nice day, you’ll find plenty of people to socialize with out there.

Get Active!

Have a skateboard? Head down to the skatepark in downtown Plymouth to learn some moves with an awesome community, or just push around campus. If you are into biking, make sure to check out the local mountain biking trails! There is even a little pump track in the woods by the ice arena for biking. If neither of these activities interest you, go for a walk! Just taking a stroll around campus can feel super refreshing after being inside for a while. Check out Fox Park or Langdon Woods for little walking trails near campus.
