On Wednesday, Dec. 6th, the Plymouth State men’s basketball team welcomed its conference and school rival, the Keene State Owls, to Foley Gymnasium. Coming into the most anticipated game of the week, The Panthers had a record of 4-4 overall and a 0-1 record in the Little Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, Keene State had a stellar 7-1 record overall with a 1-0 record in the Little Eastern Conference.

First quarter got underway with Keene State winning the game’s opening tip-off. The Owls’ offense struggled early on to find a rhythm, whereas the Panthers went on a six-to-one run. Christian Barr dominated for the Panthers, accounting for over 10+ rebounds on both the offensive and defensive end of the court. Torran Bosworth was a beast shooting from the three-pointer. The Panthers accumulated a few turnovers despite leading the Owls on the scoresheet. Plymouth’s senior captain, Kyler Bossé, hit the career 1000-point mark for his first points of the game after struggling to find a groove. From the start, the Panthers never looked back and maintained their lead the whole quarter. The Panthers went into halftime up 37-34.

The second quarter began and the Owls jumped directly into a run of 12-2 in the first four minutes. Keene State’s defense accounted for a couple of blocks to stop a few of Plymouth’s attacks on offense. Plymouth meanwhile faced trouble throughout the quarter, with a few turnovers early on. The Panthers had many scoring opportunities but were unable to capitalize. Overall, the Panthers struggled to get going throughout the quarter as the Owls never let their foot off the gas, dropping almost fifty points in the second quarter. The final buzzer sounded and the Panthers dropped the game to the Owls with a final score of 83-58

Bossé spoke about hitting the career 1000-point mark despite the loss, saying, “I feel blessed playing for Plymouth State, and having the support day-in and day-out is truly a blessing. I’m forever grateful to be a part of this program and I’ll never forget that moment. I’m extremely fortunate!” Coming up for the Panthers, they will travel to conference opponent UMass Dartmouth on Saturday 12/8 for a 3:00 pm tip-off.
