Netflix’s “The Gentlemen” is worth the watch for ‘dramedy’ enjoyers

Netflix released another interesting comedy series that is great if you’re looking for a new series to binge.

The 8-episode series, “The Gentlemen” stars many familiar faces like Theo James, Daniel Ings, Giancarlo Esposito, and Kaya Scodelario. The series gives a more fun and enjoyable tone to the previous movies, director Guy Ritchie has done, like “The Gentleman (2019)” movie. 

The series follows a British aristocratic family whose patriarch dies and leaves the estate and title to his second-born son Eddie (Theo James), skipping over the first-born addict son Freddy (Daniel Ings). Eddie soon learns part of the estate is being used as a weed-growing empire. Eddie then goes about dealing with trying to get his brother out of trouble with local gangsters and trying to get rid of the deal his father made with the man running the weed empire. 

This series is well-scripted and generally interesting to watch. The series has a dark serious/comedic tone that I haven’t seen in a while.

The show reminds me of the comedic style similar to the movie and series “What We Do in the Shadows” directed by Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement making it ten times more enjoyable. The show captures the audience by the twists and turns of the plot but also the comedic style thrown into the various aspects of the show.

The series is different from the recently released series and gives a comedic serious standpoint that you wouldn’t typically expect in a series but is still enjoyable to watch.
