On Saturday, November 12th, the Plymouth State Panthers took the field against UMass Dartmouth for their last in-season game and The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference championship. To start the game, the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs found the endzone fast and scored both of their 1st quarter touchdowns during their first two possessions. Luckily for the Panthers, the UMass Dartmouth kicker fails to complete both extra points, making the score 12-0 at the end of the 1st quarter. Though, hope was soon restored for the Panthers when offensive linemen Teddy Fellows, James Mauro, Frank Capaldo, Austin Harnish, and Jassiah Francis carved a hole in the defense, making it easy for senior Manny Sanchez to fall into the endzone, scoring the first Panther touchdown. Sophomore kicker Seth Disalvo, clears the ball through the uprights, making the score 12-7. UMass Dartmouth capitalizes once more against the Panther defense before half. Yet, sophomore quarterback Brayden Lynn, along with Jake Donahue contribute to the score of the game by putting another 7 points on the board, making the game 19-14 at half.
In the third quarter, the Corsairs began to pull away from the Panthers by quickly scoring another 20 points making it 39-14. Within the last couple of seconds of the game, Sanchez made it through the defense once more, making the final score 46-21. With this, the Panthers placed 4th in the MASCAC.
The Panthers will be seen one last time this season in the New England Bowl. The game will be at Husson University’s home field in Bangor, Maine. Roll State!
