Exercise is one of the best ways to take care of yourself, having numerous benefits for both your physical and mental health. Daily movement reduces the risk of chronic disease, improves cardiovascular health, reduces stress and anxiety, improves mood and productivity, enhances muscle strength and endurance, and so much more.

It can be hard to incorporate exercise into your routine after living a sedentary lifestyle. Despite the known benefits of regular physical activity, many college aged individuals remain sedentary. Transitioning into college can be hard as it often correlates to a change in routine, and with that comes less intentional physical activity and exercise.

Although it can be tough, only 15 minutes of daily exercise can have a significant impact on one’s life. Even daily chores such as raking or vacuuming are classified as exercise. The ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) affirms that hitting 150 minutes of moderate physical activity each week is optimal for peak health. Remember that any type of exercise is always better than none!
