On Wednesday, April 21st, half of the Event Marketing class hosted a virtual event in which students’ funny videos were put on display. The event was a lively and fun one that unified the student community in a light-hearted atmosphere. There was profound participation and a variety of funny and interesting videos that were displayed for the student body.

Ariana Wiles, the project manager for the event, said of the night: “It was filled with lots of laughs and crazy content from the Plymouth state community and it was amazing to be able to bring it” to the student community. The students of the class needed to overcome the challenges that come with hosting virtual events, and they were able to do just that. The night included a host of funny videos as well as a game of Kahoot, which Wiles says was a highlight of the evening. She praised her classmates as well, saying their contributions were necessary and deeply appreciated. The participants of the event are greatly appreciated by the project manager as well.

In addition to praising her classmates and fellow students, Wiles made it a point to thank the teacher of the class as well as other people who made the event possible. “I’d like to say a huge thank you to our professor Denise Hutchins,” says Wiles, “and to all our donations from the stores downtown like Groovy Noodle, Phat fish, Biederman’s, and the Grotto!” Events like these are only possible with the work and help from a large group of people, and this event was a success because of the efforts of the students, professors, businesses, and Wiles.

While there are no definitive plans to produce another event like this at the moment, the possibility remains open for other students to create this event and similar ones in the future. When asked about this event repeating itself, Wiles supported the idea and encouraged other students to do so if they so choose. “I personally think that this event could most definitely be run again,” said Wiles, “I would love to see this event on a larger scale.”

While the event is over, there is still a chance to vote. Voting on videos closes on April 26th, so do so if you were in attendance and have yet to vote. The Event Marketing class has another event being produced by Professor Hutchins and the other half of the class entitled the Panther Prowl. This event will take place directly before the Homecoming game this fall, so be sure to keep an eye out for information regarding that.
