Director of Development John Scheinman leads University Advancement. He received his bachelor’s degree from Marist College and his MEd from Keene State College, and has 35 years of higher education leadership experience. He has been part of the Plymouth State University community since 1999, when he was hired as an athletics coach.

John’s numerous men’s basketball records include the program’s best season (24-6), its only NCAA tournament victory, and its only back-to-back 20-win seasons. He was twice named NH DIII Coach of the Year and received the Alvin F. “Doggie” Julian Award for his dedication to New England college basketball. He also has eight years of teaching experience in the Plymouth State Health and Human Performance Department.

In 2010, John moved fulltime into the Office of University Advancement, where he has been instrumental in raising funds for numerous priority projects including the Ice Arena, ALLWell North, the Stadium and Turf Field, and student scholarships. John and his wife, Susan, created the Plymouth Opportunity Scholarship in 2017, and they previously founded Jacob’s Bridge Through Autism, a nonprofit promoting autism awareness.

John’s community service includes coaching youth sports and serving on the Plymouth Elementary School Board.
