Currently, a professor in the PEHE Teacher Certification Program at Plymouth State University, Lynn V. Johnson has taught in the Professional Physical Education Program at the University of Vermont, taught and coached (softball) at Springfield College, and spent several years teaching K-12 physical education in Vermont (Proctor, Charlotte, and Vergennes). Lynn received her undergraduate and MEd degree from Springfield College and her EdD from the University of Vermont. She is a past president of Eastern District Association/AAHPERD and VT/AHPERD, has served on a number of EDA/AAHPERD and AAHPERD Committees and as a SHAPE America Board of Director. She has received several awards including the AAHPERD Honor Award; EDA/AAHPERD Honor Award and Outstanding Professional in Physical Education Award; the Vermont/AHPERD Higher Education Teacher of the Year Award; the NHAHPERD Outstanding Professional Award for College Teaching; the New Hampshire Excellence in Education (EDies) NHAPHERD 2018 Meritorious Achievement Award; the Plymouth State University Distinguished Service Award; and most recently the ED/SHAPE America Outstanding Leadership Award. Lynn is also a fellow in the North American Society of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sport and Dance. She has published several articles in professional journals, co-authored a book chapter, and co-authored Softball: Steps to Success. Over the last 30 years, she has presented at state, district, national, and international conventions and workshops, primarily in the area of standards-based teaching, assessment, competency-based physical education, and using technology to enhance learning in physical education. Over the past several years Lynn, with NHAHPERD, has provided professional development for physical educators as they transition to competency-based physical education. Lynn has also served as the advisor to the Plymouth State University Health and Human Performance Club for the past 10 years and has served as the advisor for more than 20 student presentations at state, district, and national conventions and conferences.
