I am president of SAVE All (Sexual Assault and Violence Education Alliance) and the secretary of Stamping out Stigma, a mental health and suicide prevention club at PSU! WGSS is important because everyone deserves to have their voice heard. Too often we see groups oppressed for being different. For example, the suicide rate for LGBTQ+ youth is 1.5-3 times higher than heterosexual youth, and no child should have to feel that kind of pain and or lack of acceptance at such a young age. As a future educator, I will create a safe and supportive space for all of my students. If we all made a conscious effort to treat people with kindness, we could change the world.
