Eagle Pond Authors’ Series to Feature Poet Matthew Olzmann
Plymouth State University will host the reading of the Eagle Pond Authors’ Series on Tuesday, March 25, at 7 p.m. Poet and educator Matthew Olzmann will read from his poetry collections, Constellation Route, Contradictions in the Design and Mezzanines, along with selections of his newer work.
Olzmann’s work, which explores themes of place, identity, faith and finding connections between apparently dissimilar things, has been featured in a variety of literary journals and magazines, including The New York Times, Best American Poetry, Pushcart Prizes, Kenyon Review, and others.

“Matthew Olzmann’s poetry is that rare thing that embraces complication while, at every turn, filling us with wonder,” said award-winning poet and author C. Dale Young in his review of Contradictions in the Design. “Prepare yourself to be dazzled.”
Olzmann is an assistant professor of English and Creative Writing at Dartmouth College and teaches the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College. He is the poetry editor of the Collagist and in 2012 was the Joan Beebe Teaching Fellow at Warren Wilson College. Olzmann is a recipient of fellowships from Kundiman, MacDowell, Kresge Arts Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Series readings are free and open to the public (pre-registration required) and are followed by a reception and book signing. Olzmann’s books will be available for purchase on-site. Presentations take place at the Silver Center for the Arts’ Smith Recital Hall located at 114 Main Street, Plymouth, on the PSU campus. For information and tickets, visit plymouth.edu/silvercenter.
The Eagle Pond Authors’ Series was founded in 1998 by former United States and New Hampshire Poet Laureate Donald Hall and then-director of the Silver Center for the Arts Diane Alexander Jeffrey. The series, sponsored by generous donors, brings nationally known poets to central New Hampshire and is a memorable and meaningful part of the Granite State’s arts and cultural landscape.
