NH Coast

The sparkling lakes and iconic mountains that surround Plymouth State University’s campus have long been powerful draws for generations of travelers, and the region’s tourism and hospitality industries
have served as national pioneers and innovators.

PSU’s collaborations with today’s tourism destinations and their leaders make the University uniquely qualified as a place to study and gain experience in this evolving field.

The BA in tourism management and policy prepares students for exciting and rewarding careers in the growing tourism industry by exploring the relationship among tourism, the natural and human environment, and the economy of locales, regions, and states; and by examining the history and current role of the travel and tourism industry in society and the challenges facing the industry.

Students are prepared to assist planners, chambers of commerce, state and municipal officials, members of the hospitality industry, and others to bring greater value and efficiency to a broad range of tourism and hospitality ventures; track trends within the tourism industry and disseminate them effectively; and help industry professionals identify challenges and prospects, establish goals and objectives, identify needs, determine appropriate courses of action, and communicate effectively to various constituencies.

PSU’s programs also include a minor in global tourism, which includes course options that span the globe in focus. The hospitality management certificate program offers yet another way to gain essential background for success in the field.
