“It’s my favorite place in the world. It’s the hidden gem of New England”, says former captain of the Panther Women’s Lacrosse team, Emily Sauls ’19. The day she first visited Plymouth State University, Emily knew it was where she belonged. Emily fell in love with campus, but it was the women’s lacrosse program that really drew her in.
As a student-athlete and Sports Management major, Emily spent a lot of her time in the athletics department. She served as the Athletics Communications fellow, retained a desk shift at the PE Center, and was part of the game day operations staff. These opportunities allowed her to interact with other coaches, players, and administration, building countless relationships and mentors along the way.
Emily exudes so much pride and gratitude for her time at Plymouth State University. She remarks, “I can’t imagine what life would have been like if I didn’t go to Plymouth. It has shaped me into the young professional I am today and the relationships I built there are lifelong.” Since graduation she has attended the Women’s Leadership Summit, a community dedicated to supporting women at Plymouth State University through philanthropy, unity, and personal growth.
Athletics was certainly the common thread in her PSU journey. Her uncle Wade Sauls ’88 played basketball and soccer and was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012. In 2019, Emily received the Peter S. Cofran Award for her dedication and exemplary work in Athletics. Her most memorable experience was winning the Women’s Lacrosse LEC Championship her senior year.
Emily donates to the Women’s Lacrosse Panther Fund. “Any type of financial assistance is so important because it is that much less debt accrued when you graduate. If I can make a student’s life even 1% better, then why wouldn’t I do it?”
